BACKUPLOUPE SOFTWARE
This should be a function of Time Machine (but that is a product from the software makers at Apple.)īackupLoupe is a buggy program, and I find that after a comparison, I need to restart the program and scan a backup just to see any changes. Obviously, merge is what everyone wants (but we don't get it). Unfortunately BackupLoupe does not automatically merge the contents of a folder that you want to restore - you have to either delete the existing folder you're restoring or restore millions of files individually. I'm not affiliated with soma-zone in any way.I'm relieved to discover that BackupLoupe exists, probably for the same reason everyone else is: Time Machine Restores correct system errors but wipe all recent data from your hard drive.
BACKUPLOUPE MAC
So, if you're even on the fence trust me, a 15+ year Mac user, and just get it already.

being blamed every time someone corrupts their TM backup for whatever reason, I would always choose the former. Given the choice of guaranteed data integrity by leaving it alone vs. I wish it was possible to surgically remove something I backed-up by mistake but I know the purpose of this utility is to not write to the TM disk in any way so I know that's not going to happen. I discovered a lot of new features when I finally read the help file too. Interface was a little counterintuitive for me at first but then I read the help file, RTFM!, and I got it now. If you're a power user or working with multiple TM disks or perhaps disk image backups of TM disks (I do this before clean installs) BackupLoupe is the only way to go! Can't beat the price and it's maintained regularly. Please judge it by yourself.Ī top notch utility that I could not live without! It's a must have for anyone who manages more than a single TM backup for someone who only emails and browses the web on their computer.

It is the user's responsibility to remember which software he/she installs. If desired the user can configure BackupLoupe to scan in the background without user intervention. The following is his reply you guys can judge it by yourself.īy default BackupLoupe scans only with the GUI open. Exclude items from future backups on the fly (without opening TM preferences)Īfter Time Machine Backup was completed, my external hard drive was still running (the indicator light on my external hard drive was shining as well), and I cannot unmount my external hard drive.įinally, I found this app are working in the background WITHOUT LAUNCHING IT, so I told the developer that hope he can tell users about this when they are trying to unmount their hard drive,.Browse backups while the backup device is not connected.Open files directly without restoring them first.Instant identification of file type while browsing.Provides extensive statistics about backups.Finder / Path Finder integration (Reveal, Info).Drag-and-drop restore items to any location.Integration with other applications via system services: click on an item in Finder to find all its revisions.History: Show how many versions of an item are available and when they were saved quick navigation between versions.Quickly identify the items which take up the most space. It will show you when a file has been backed up for the. Never run out of space, because BackupLoupe will predict when your backup drive is likely to fill up. BackupLoupe lets you peek inside backups, tells you which files have been backed up when and where. Quickly locate files and restore them via drag-and-drop. See which files have been backed up and which ones take up the most space.
